Isaac Asimov and Robert Silverberg carry their battle over who is the most prolific to unheard-of extremes.
This story was written by one Jeff Hudson and sent off to Galaxy, whose editor thought it was good enough to publish but needed a stronger ending—and so he sent it on to Asimov to supply a new ending. The result is a hoot, a very funny satire of the Good Doctor himself and that which made him most proud. I remember the story vividly, being a subscriber to Galaxy when it was first published, but it’s also found in One Hundred Great Science Fiction Short-short Stories, to which the Asimov enthusiast is most enthusiastically directed.
